Teacher and student reading with a C-Pen Reader 2
C-Pen

Is a reading pen right for this student?

Assistive Tech

A reading pen is most likely to help a student who understands a text well when it is read to them, but struggles to read it on their own. That gap between listening and reading is the key sign. A pen won't help much if the student also struggles to understand spoken language, or if most of their reading is on screens. It supports reading. It doesn't replace assessment or reading instruction.
